These are the flowers that are supposed to grow in my butterfly garden. The poor patch has been stressed by a stray-cat, but I managed to keep the pest away in the end, thanks to a high tech repellant.
Bishop‘s Flower (Ammi majus)
Butterfly Milkweed (Asclepias tuberosa)
Showy Milkweed (Asclepias speciosa)
Cornflower (Centaurea cyanus)
Siberian Wallflower (Cheirantus allionii)
Dwarf Godetia (Clarkia amoena)
Lance-leaved Coreopsis (Coreopsis lanceolata)
Plains Coreopsis (Coreopsis tinctoria)
Dwarf Cosmos (Cosmos binnatus)
Sweet William Pinks (Dianthus barbatus)
Purple coneflower (Echinacea purpurea)
California Poppy (Eschscholzia californica)
Annual Gaillardia (Gaillardia pulchella)
Annual Candytuft (Iberis umbellata)
Gayfeather (Liatris spicata)
Sweet Allysum (Lobularia maritima)
Perennial Lupine (Lupinus perennis)
Annual Phlox (Phlox drummondii)
Black-eyed Susan (Rudbeckia hirta)
It should be quite a display, shouldn’t it. I received these seeds from my neighbor Troy, whose backyard is too shaded to grow them. The seeds were stored in two adorable tins. I am curious how many will flower, following the cat’s unwanted trips through the patch. Hopefully in the following two months I’ll come up with my own pictures of at least a few of these lovelies.
